Inspect, maintain and repair
All storage equipment (such as pallet racking and cantilever racking) is considered to be work equipment and therefore should be inspected by a 'technically competent' person, maintained and repaired on a regular basis
Who are SEMA?
SEMA are the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association, and they work tirelessly to promote the safe design, manufacture, installation, and use of racking systems. The work they do covers the lifetime of your storage; from safety and technical standards for all types of storage equipment, guidance publications, and technical information, right through to the collective expertise of our members. SEMA are the only scheme in the UK that independently audits the credentials of distributors and installers of storage equipment. All of this is supported by their training, installation and inspection initiatives.
Frequency of racking inspections
Racking inspections should be carried out on a regular basis.
For a lot of customers a single annual visit is fine, however a bi-annual (twice a year) can occasionally be recommended.
